Pretty intense; almost a 270 degree spin. Do they test all cars with the windows rolled down? Worst case scenario, maybe? Anyway, the dummy's head appeared to move outside the plane of the Tridion for a moment - not necessarily a good thing. Couldn't tell if it hit the door frame or not.

I thought it was odd that the window was down too. I definitely recall seeing side glass shatter on other car tests (which may have happened in this situation, though with it rolled down, we can't tell).

why no side air bag deployment?

Given the propensity for rotation after impact, why didn't the side curtain airbags deploy? Or did they and I didn't see?

They are designed to deploy only when there is a side impact, and they inflate and deflate very quickly. If they had deployed I suspect they would be well on their way to be being fully deflated before they could do any good while the car was spinning.

If one uses YouTube to search for IIHS crash tests one can see that the side airbag deployment is not consistent to all cars. On some it deploys and others not. Clearly a function of what the designers desire in different scenarios. Personally I would not have an issue with them all going off in all crash scenarios.
