'I'll give you $20 to look at your car!'

I've been reading the forums for a few months before I took delivery. But, I didn't see anyone else report this! Stopped at a light, a guy next to me motions for me to drop my window. He says he'll give me $20 if I let him look at my car. I say I'll follow him, and he pulls over, climbs out with a $20 bill in his hand. I decline it (temporary insanity).
He's interested in buying one. I answered his questions, let him take a seat in my car, and told him about the orphan list.

Why the heck did you turn away free money? That's gotta be like 2/3 of a tank of fuel in your Smart. I would have taken it!

Never been offered cash....but many 'can I sit in it' requests. Most I allow but a few I had to tell I was in a hurry to go.

For "strange requests" like this one, I wouldn't take the money either but I'll show the car (with a firm hand on my key panic button fob)..

Kudos on not taking the money too. I would have asked him to make a donation to a favorite charity.

It's good will on both partys part to make the gester. The $20 won't make anyone rich.

I hear you. I don't mind at all when people want to chat about the car, but some of them don't have any courtesy or common sense. On Friday I was on my way to work and had to stop at the bank machine. I pulled up and some guy pulls up beside me and blocks me in while he stares at the car and gabs on his cell phone! The machine was out of deposit envelopes, so I needed to park and go inside the bank. So I give him a "What's up?" look, and he eventually pulls away and lets me out. I park the car, and I'm almost into the bank when I hear, "Hey!, Hey buddy!" The guy is yelling at me to come back to the parking lot. At this point I'm already half way through the door, so I figure the best thing is to pretend I didn't hear him and go on. As the door is closing behind me I hear, "F--k you, you fat f--k!!
