I am going on vacation in a few weeks to northern Michigan and I will being posting info about my car in the window along with a price list; $5.00 to talk with me, $10.00 to get in and $20.00 to ride in it. I don't want to spend my vacation selling/ demostraiting my car so the charging should leave me in peace. I hope. I have the 'speal down to about 5 minutes because of all the questions I already answer and the demo's I give so its not like I don't know how to do it.

Taking the money means the "viewer" has the right to perhaps even fart in the seat. "Hey I gave you a $20 didn't I?" will be his response. So not taking the $20 is a good move.

I admire the "I answered his questions, let him take a seat in my car, and told him about the orphan list." spirit.

Let me guess, NCC, you just got your smart? Talking to strangers more than I should about the smart really wears me down these days. I was all enthusiastic at first. Now, it's just plain annoying. The more they tell me to roll down my windows, the more I want to drive off. It's not like smart USA is paying us commission for the advertising anyway.

I do not get many who ask about the car. I do not any that wanted to sit in the car or pay to sit in the car. I was at an intersection (red light) when the startled me when they asked about my little car. I told them about the car till the light changed and I said 'gotta go'.

..not the case with us..if anybody asks about ours it will turn into a 30 minutes conversation about everything smart...then we hand them a business card from Max at SCIndy and tell them to mention that we send them there....who knows...maybe we get a discount on our next one....
good job in declining the $....

some times depending the person you give the attention to the questions that they make.
here in costa rica the smart car is not that popular is like a unicorn you are not use to see one it´s funny specially when the ask comes whit bateries jajaja.
but if some one ask me to show the car not in a safe place like a parking lot or a mall i will say that im in a hurry.
specially if the offer money to see the car jaja kudos for not acepting the money

regards
Lou

Of course it depends on the area you live in, but i would not pull over and engage with a stranger for any amount of money. They could just as well jack you car and leave you for dead. Not a good idea, but to each their own.
