I'm getting pestered already...

...And I don't even have the smart yet. It Comes in tomorrow though! (excited)

My Sisters love it. My brother in-law seems to think something that small isn't safe. My Brother is okay with the car, but thinks it'll be a fixed and repaired daily when it hits the 2 to 3 year mark...
Getting an extended warranty will be perfect insurance that the car will never have a problem, and I'd never make use of it. Heh.

Yea, people ask me all the time about it. Then again, I wear a smart jacket, and have a pic on the back of my phone. From what I understand, you gain instant celebrity status with this car.

Small-the smart is a walnut, the average SUV or Truck is a watermelon.
Repairs-Consumer Reports has given smart an above average reliability rating.

Once you get it, get out there and drive!!!

We've had our Smart barely 2 months and already have 5000 miles on it! It's a BLAST to drive. You're going to love it. And I do recommend the extended warranty -- then you have no worries. We got the full 100,000 warranty, complete with free loaner car. We live 75 miles from the Smart dealer so it makes like much easier and less stressful, even though we haven't had to use the warranty yet.

I have a good friend, who's a big shot for Toyota/Lexus/Scion. He been with them for 20+ years. He was home for Xmas. I took him for a ride a couple days ago, in my little Smart. He was very impressed with the build quality, of Smart. Fit and finish, right up there with Toyota product. He said the total package of the product is wonderful. He's use to high end Lexus product. He even like the funky way the transmission shifted. Laughed at the shift point in a good way!!!

Once you get the Smart, you will certainly be the center of attention on the road. The first day i got mine i was in the 7-11 for an ice cream treat, and the first thing i had a stranger tell me "nice car", and then all the stares and dumbfounded looks came next, along with drivers who open their window asking me about it. Even one driver pulled further up to the stoplight, and then he backed up his car next to mine just to ask me about the car. One of the questions to come will be " what kind of mileage do you get" which i was not able to answer well the first day as i had just took delivery of the little guy, and i just had to show him off to my car buff pals later that night. I even had the teenagers at the church i go to flock all over it the first sunday it was driven to there. I had a Honda Motor Scooter way back in 1985 when they first came out, and back then i was always asked about the little vehicle, so getting my Smart, I was pretty used to the strangers asking questions, and some of the naysayers along the way. Oh yes, and even there are some who come up with their wisecracks, but i laugh with them.
All i can tell you is when i first got my Smart i loved it from the first time i took it home to the first full weekend outing in it, and that was back in July 24th 2008. I still love driving it to this day, and it still gets heads turned more than once, however the flocks of questions are not as rampid which can be a nice thing, but i still get em, and i am more than happy to feed the curiousty. Just savor the car when you get it, and remember this, those who choose to give off the flack are really lacking something they wish they had, a fuel efficent car with a cute personlaity to it.
BTW to this day i now have well over 6255 miles on my "Mr. Blue" and had no real issues as of yet. 4000 more nad i shall be due fot it's first oil change and such.

Now, let me print this all out and flash it around to the doubters.
I'm not going for the full 100,000mi warranty, I don't have the extra $1100, unless they let me upgrade later. I'm gonna at least boost it to about 48,000.

I'm going to pick it up in a few hours..
Now the fun part, breaking this baby in.

I rolled the $1100 into my loan. It raised my payments less than $5 and will be well worth it down the road.

I went on ahead and bought the full warranty. The GM made a point in saying that smart being a very new model and not alot of history, that the extension would be good insurance should something go wrong. And after alot of thinking, I caved. I'd rather have it and not use it then Need it and not have it...

got mine (when I say mine, it's really my dads, but I drive it too) and it's got awesome sharp turn maneuverability that I doubt will ever get topped by anything in the future, except maybe a second gen (in the US)
