I'm only getting 8 MPG...

in wide-open acceleration up steep hills!

I LOVE my ScanGauge. It does not worry me at all but helps me adjust my habits so I get even better mileage than I would.

Ok, the "Dollars spent this trip" and "..spent today" screens kind of worry me a little. I may hook it up to the SUV just to make myself feel better.

Oh that. No, that's congenital.

I actually started out trying to point out what a wide gap there is between the extreams the Scangauge tool reports. I have seen from 8 MPG to 170 MPG. At a full coast the computer squawks nines. (9999MPG).

snake, thanks for the post. After reading all the ScanGauge threads I initially wanted one, but now that we have the car I feel like it's doing whatever it's doing and I'm happy to go along. I can tell I won't be hypermiling - the car just begs to be driven hard through the gears.

Got my Scanguage today and read my check engine code as p410. As I'm driving, I can't stop reading the MPG's and trying for better. I finally have something to stare at other than all of the gawkers checking out my car. The Scanguage makes the Smart even funner to drive!

It is on my list to get...

The other day I was with my wife at a stop light and just as I pulled away I looked to the right and a guy next to me was rolling down his window. Oh well, lost him traffic...

Makes me smile more with everyone smiling at me. Why are they laughing at me???

To know that the Smart gets 8mpg up hill and my SUV gets 10mpg in normal city driving... well, I'm glad I'm picking mine up tomorrow.

My ScanGauge is still on a truck, due to come in 4 hours after I leave to pick up the car... how's that for timing? That's ok, my first few days with the car need to be spent adjusting and not obsessing over numbers. I'll have about 600 miles on the odometer when I get home Sunday. Those miles will be driven low-stress anyway.

It'll be really strange to pull up to my usual halfway point gas stations and only get 4 gallons of gas instead of 10.
