I've seen reports of Canadian 450's still running strong at 120,000 miles and up. Clean oil every 3000 miles or sooner is the key to any engine lasting a long time.

I went through that too. Then I got in the seat of my little bumblebee, fell in love, and its been a romance every day since (only been a week, but I've gone heads over heels for this car).

I am another one who had remorse and I even went looking at other cars. But since I got one I couldn't be happier and I am sooooo happy I didn't give up on it. Once you get the car you won't be disappointed!

My wife thanked me the other day for ordering it!! She loves it too. She also now refers to our Prius as a tank!!

I change our oil at 2,500 mile intervals anyway. As for a "real" car in this price range, I don't want one. So for me, it's ~$15K for a Fortwo or ~$29K for a GTI (and carbon offsets). I don't expect the two to drive the same and I'm betting the Smart will be at least as reliable as a VW. Waiting for parts may be a bigger deal and the closest dealer will be 20 miles away; but, my local mechanic will be able to handle most of it and trim parts will probably be available over the Internet by enterprising dealers..

I'll wait it out

I have been worrying about it too but those on this website that have gotten theirs are keeping me patient. With all the waiting you've already done (for me it's been almost two years since I saw them in Italy) you might as well stick it out and see how you feel when it gets here.

I am hangin in there also but it will not take any more shoes dropping to get me colored all the way gone....

In fact if my dealers were pulling the fees crap I would already have shuffled on along to some new endevor

And I am still stewing rather hard over the warranty thing... not really the length...just the disrespect from PAG... I expected a LOT more out of the INsider buying experiance

I think the 80,000 mile thing had to do with the old Mercedes engine - time will only tell how the Mitsubishi engine will hold up.
