Nitrogen makes your tires stay harder. You can achieve the same level of nitrogen by filling your tires with air to 40 lbs every several days. When they stop losing pressure, you have achieved a high concentration of nitrogen and less oxygen. After all, air is mostly nitrogen anyway. Paying for it is foolish. Costco managers have admitted to me that it is simply a 'gimmick' to get customers to come in, so they can sell them something else.

I didn't pay for it. The Hartford smart center put it in for free because one my tires was losing air with no discernible leak. They tried the nitro as a fix because it has larger molecules that are less likely to leak through a tiny opening. It worked.

Garage
The molecular mass of oxygen gas (32) exceeds that of nitrogen gas (28) so I am not sure if the size correlates to mass, but if it does..........

I can't swear to the details. Maybe it's that the molecules are denser. Whatever, it did what they said it would do.

Funny you should mention it....

My last two tanks have given me better mileage, and average of 36-37mpg, with A/C on for about 50-100 miles. I normally average 35mpg mainly due to my driving.

Only thing that has changed is the 2.0 upgrade.

We've owned an '09 Passion since Thanksgiving, and now have over 3000 miles on it. I've been averaging 32-36 city, 40-44 highway. I did notice that when I filled up today I got 41.5 MPG and that wasn't with a lot of highway driving (in fact, it included a leisurely drive yesterday with the A/C in use for the first time). Don't know if it's the car, or the nicer weather, but either way I'll take it!
