Did you try the scotchbrite pad like they used on gidit? he had a scuff and it cleaned up nicely.

Having had someone do $2300 worth of damage to my car *in a parking lot* (argh!), I'm darn near jumping for joy at the idea of swapping out a body panel for $180.

And to think it's also recyclable....

I wonder if smart will put a body panel recycle bin in at the dealer

Ditto! and it is good to know that the panels can be individually purchased (hopefully you don't need an accident claim!) as I have some ideas for variations in my fortwo, and I wouldn't necessarily want to purchuse the complete set just for one panel.

Just yesterday, I was told by Englewood and Edison that panels are on order. Edison confirmed with smart that the panels are being shipped over and an early March delivery is expected. So I guess I'll be blue a little while longer. Oh how I long for my red/black cabrio.

All I can say is that I really want my full set of extra panels so I can get them painted.
Ho Hum.

Other alternative

If the pannel is not damaged how about just taking the panel out and have it repainted?

Anyone know if the convertible switch is supposed to be lighted?
I had a tough time finding it at night.

why would you when you can get a replacement panel with factory paint for the same cost to have a decent painter repaint? plus my experience says that secondary paint after a repari is never as good as the factory jobs. matching a metallic is very difficult.

Meh. It was bound to happen. Nice to get it over with.

I didn't try the scotch brite pad since the blue model is painted. I am considering having a color change on hand (down the road), since I thought that might be fun. Will let you all know how much of a pain it is to replace the panel when it comes in.
