that might be a pretty good idea only if the decal you are using is of high quality, i have CF decals on my window trims and actually looks like CF. the decal is a good 1/4" thick though...
i also have cf decal pieces for the door handles and they look like crap since they are just plain thin decals

I just picked up the driver's rear quarter today, and it probably weighs a pound or two at most. Literally, I could carry it between my thumb and forefinger. Everyone at the dealer (parts & service) who heard I was going to swap it out myself thought it was a great idea.

The longer I own this car the better I like it.

PRM1177, so you got a panel? Wow!! I order a full set and have yet to receive the call from Edison that they have arrived. Good luck with the swap and let us know how it went. Post pixs if you can. Thanks, Regina

replacing body panels

u should be able to replace body a panel. they are interchangable so they should def. be able o replace it. smart makes hundreds and thousands of spare body panels also they use second hand spares part body panels.

if they cant replace it then ask questions.

Paul, sorry about the bad news and hopefully the minor accident isn't hampering your love of the car!

How much for a full set?
One of the things about the smart that I loved in Europe is that you can get alternate sets of panels so you can change the color of your car in a few hours. The price there was about $1600 (US converted).

bgcat57, the full sets are $900 or $1100, depending on whether the paint is "flat" or metallic.

I got the same panel scratched. I decided to try touch up paint. Not available from smart but my local automotive paint store mixed some up for me. If it gets noticably dinged, I will buy a new panel. Also, I asked my dealership (100 miles away) if they could order me panels and ship them to me. They said 200.00 for shipping. I think I will contact another dealership.
