State Farm insures Smarts.

Our quote from State Farm is $360 for 6 mos. Full coverage $500 ded.

We are switching over, as our present insurer has never even heard of Smart. (Used bootleg VIN, as our delivery number is #1176}

For those that are mature, AARP which is underwritten by Foremost had no problem giving me a quote. Florida tends to be high, uninsured moterist and no fault. $350 for 6 months for full coverage.

I will be using USAA and got similar phone quote as fishrdnc's but at the time she said that it was an estimate only as they had nothing loaded for the USA spec 451 but she could see 450 Grey market estimates

By mid year many for these will be better loaded, insurance, claims adjusters, JC Whitney, DMV there are a whole host of services that will need revised databases

When I go to AARP.org it points me to The Hartford for a quote, and smart isn't listed.

SP Sorry for the error, it is the Hartford.
I called them on the phone as my other cars are with them. Although they haven't yet rated the smart car they are aware of it and are willing to write it. They based my quote on price, engine size and a few other factors. Admitted it may change after they have some experience with them. I called back after I got my Vin# and they ran it and came up with the same quote.

Customer service phone number is: 1-800-423-6789

What was your quote and is in the ballpark for other quotes in your area.

Here in L.A. where insurance is costly I got $317 for 100/300/100 $1000 deductible.

SP,
It was $700 per year same coverage you quote but $500 deductable instead of $1000.

That is about $50 per year less than my Mini Cooper S was for the same coverage.

John (jwight), thanks for the USAA captured image, but the smart does not show up for me on the automated quote when searching for a "New Vehicle".

To the right of the 2008 Smart Car on your drop down menu, it says:

How do we know about these vehicles?
This is a list of vehicles that have been quoted before, have been on your policy before or were listed on a loan application with the USAA Federal Savings Bank.
Apparently, they have deleted the smart entry from the site, or you might have asked for USAA for a loan.

Thanks for the info!

State Farm gave me an estimate.. easy. It came out to be almost the exact same price as insuring our 2002 BMW 325it wagon. I was a little surprised. Figured the power would make it less.. but I guess it's mostly about replacement price when the record/history is good.

And it cannot be replaced unless you register again and wait another year.
