I got my VIN number today and called my insurer GEICO to find out about coverage and was told they will not insure they car for anything but liability.

Apparently they feel it is too costly to insure?! WTF!!!

I put a call in to smart USA and they said they have a partnership with Liberty Mutual. Their number is 800-837-5254

Anyone else try to get insurance yet through their company.

This to me could be a problem.

Just spoke with Liberty Mutual. They have a partnership with smart USA and will give guaranteed car replacement if stolen or totaled (i.e. no need for GAP coverage). They also include towing to the nearest smart dealer. Great for me since my nearest is currently 250 miles away.

I am in L.A. and spoke with my insurance guy today. He said there is no actual rating # in their (all?) book as yet for this car and that based on that, they would calculate the insurance on the sales price (out the door) of the car, (which is sort of bs, why should I pay based on tax and license), anyway, based on the coverage of my other cars and this one being between 15,100 and 16,500, the rate would be about $326 per 6 months.

This is all I can share as it's all I know.......if it's any use.

Good coverage...full glass, collision, comp, 100/300/100.....500 deductible

$330/year, NOT 6 months. Will soon be insured once delivered.
