Insurance for your smart

Who are you using to get insurance on your smart since I doubt you can drive it off the lot w/o it?

I can just see myself at the dealership on the phone calling around to get insurance and the insurance company is "you want to insure a smart WHAT?"

Just trying to make my life easier ahead of time.

There has been another thread with it. I dont know what other insurance in yoru area has it, but try state farm. As the cars sell more, more companies will sell it.

Official insurance company for smart is http://libertymutual.com/smart. They promise replacement of your car for just the deductible if you should (shudder) total the car in the first year.

My cheapest quote was from these guys. Cheaper than Mercury, State Farm or Auto Club. Better coverage than Geico (who won't cover collision on a smart). Of course, your quote will vary. Make sure you tell them what college you graduated from, I got a 20% discount for that.

It all depends where you live... Liberty Mutual was double what I pay now for my other cars... I have Geico but they won't insure the car against comp/collision so I am going with a collector car insurance since I will not drive the Smart that much anyways...

I got a quote from Erie Insurance for $422 per year, full coverage, 3rd vehicle, good driving record.

Just got back from the area Liberty Mutual office. I was quoted $539 per year with $250 damage deduct / $500 collision deduct. That's surprisingly good...
