I owned my Smart for 15 minutes before I drove it home.....Pittsburgh,Pa to near White Sulfur Springs West Virginia....about 6 hours. And I've put many interstate miles on the car since. Drive I-64 at the posted 70 mph with a bunch of 5 axle coal trucks and I was never intimidated... I was always able to just stay away from them and of course much more maneuverable! The only real scare I've had was crossing the New river gorge bridge with HIGH cross winds....that did scare me some!

I find the two best mods on my Smart are the MDC cruise control and the 17" Genius Darwin wheels and Yokohama S-drive tires from Smartmadness.com. These items smooth out the trips down the long roads and let you enjoy the beautiful scenery. Long hauls are now easy. Cheerz, SmartChip

I drove from Iowa City, Ia to Denver Colorado non-stop a couple of times and it would have been a pleasurable drive except I had to drive through.....Nebraska. Need I say more.

Order the MDC from Smart Madness. Plug and play, looks stock, and works great.

Is that an order, parrothead?

I also love my Area451 cruise control. I haven't heard of one Area451 or MDC cruise control owner that has been unhappy with the purchase.

(And I sent 76Driver a PM mentioning the two options and the ability to look at customer feedback here on the SCOA forums)

Several 200 mile interstate trips as well as cross-country. Only downside I've noted is reduced gas mileage at higher speeds -- probably due to wind resistance. Best mileage at 55-60 with tailwind, but comfortable in all conditions. (from the "downhill side" of Nebraska)
