Introducing Margene!

Picked up my Yellow Passion yesterday at the Dallas smart center and am loving it!

Initial reactions follow others here. Get used to the attention! Transmission is quirky, but put it in manual and drive it like a stick. Took only an hour or two to adjust. Was quite windy yesterday in Dallas ** felt it, but certainly manageable.

Only one picture so far:

Yeah, someone said it was like you were always in a parade with people looking at you, smiling and some giving you the thumbs up!

I talked to a couple guys yesterday who said that they were looking into buying a smart. You are now a celebrity!

Gawd...I wish I was in Tx now driving the Smart. We picked up our Smart on Monday in MN and the weather has been terrible-windy, snowy, rainy. So far so good. Driving highway with 30mph crosswind is a bit unnerving but it wasn't too bad. Yes, the transmission could be better, but I'll get use to it.

Good luck!!!

Ditto that....

I picked my blue/black Passion "orphan" from Bloomington Smart and the weather was awful. Sleet turning to all snow. She did just great however. We're from Bemidji, where the weather is even worse (24" of the white stuff). Will wait till Sunday to head back north. I love winter but enough really is enough!!

Hi there-

I'm curious as to why you bought yours when you have a civic (that gets pretty decent mileage). How is it in the snow so far? I know it's the wet heavy stuff that's usually not as hard to drive on but how is anyways? Do you think we'll eventually need snow tires? How long have you been on the list?

Stay warm-

Hi blackbeagle
Excellent question. The Civic is a lease and goes back this fall, so I have been looking for a replacement for some time now. As you note the Civic gets good (not great) mileage (40 hwy). It is absolutely dependable, comfortable, and really close to perfect (intrusive road noise not withstanding). In short it is dead boring!! We saw the Smarts all over Europe and just fell in love with them and couldn't wait for them to come across the pond. The Civic just doesn't do anything for me and the Smart does. Gotta push those buttons!!

Don't know about the snow tires. I have been running Nokians for years now but they aren't available in the size the Smart needs. I am going to run the Continentals this summer and do some research in the mean time. We have had 30+ inches of snow over the past week here in Bemidji. Streets are clear now and I hope that is the end of that for this winter!!

Cheers

Steve
