FYI Andrew English THe smart fourtwo won the Cannonball Run BRABUS smart fortwo wins latest Cannonball Run - AutoblogGreen Limiting it to the City doesn't make sense. Those who live outside the City Drive the furthest and use the most Gas. They are the ones that can save the most fuel by going to a car like this for daily commute or just running to the store

Yup I do. I can go almost a week on the gas i used in 2 days on my other vehicle. roughly 120 miles each day. I fill every other day, right around 6-7 gals. My Expedition was 17-18 gals every other day..... do the math.

Motortrend did not really like the smart either. I have yet to read an article where the writer actually understands that the tranny in a smart is not an automatic. I think smart should put some seats in the back and call the car a four seater. Nobody could use them, but if you look at vids on youtube about the iQ nobody can use those either.

Remember, for the iQ to even become legal in the U.S., it may have to...

«Last week, chief engineer Hiroki Nakajima said he expects a U.S. launch in the “midterm,” before the first model update. The company needs to develop different airbags and improve bumper strength to help the iQ pass U.S. safety standards»

«To meet the federal safety standards the rear seat might have to go»

I'd remove the rear seats anyway.

I wouldn't be using them...Why carry around the extra weight?

I've tried to refrain from going to IQ related threads but I knew I would be dragged in eventually.

My opinion: The IQ was built by people with the iq equivalent to that of a 3rd grader.

Seriously, the car looks nothing futuristic, it looks as if it had already gotten hit by a bus.

It's leg room is nothing close to a smart, Shaq O'Neal would probably have to remove that child seat of what they call a "rear seat".

As for that rear seat setup, what's with that? - you say it's a four seater but your 4th occupant must be a cripple or a child?

0-60? - The smart already pushes on the boundaries of "slowest car in America" even though it has just enough acceleration to get on the freeway without harm.
-It's so slow that it shouldn't be legal for the freeway!

Interior - What were they thinking!?!?

Possibly a Scion? - Bad idea! - Scions were designed for the creative teen in mind. What teen would want to modify a car that would be beaten by a lawnmower in a drag race?

Whoooh!

Sorry guys, I just had to blow off some steam, feelin' fine now.

In two years when I slap on new panels and turn the smart over to my teen daughter, The IQ will be considered... but right now it looks to need those two years to improve some things.

Naaah, in two years hopefully the Fiat 500 will be available here. Right now thats the only car I would trade the smart for. I was thinking of waiting to get my smart until the IQ came out. Glad I didnt!
