I've done it! 52 mpg!!!

Here's how it happened...

In the past few fill-ups I've been averaging 40-43mpg. All of these have been from the same pump, with the same octane gas 91.

My driving is 50/50 city/highway. And I do not use the AC, but I always have at least 1 window down. My drive to and from work is approx 14 miles.

So my last fill up at 1886 miles on the odo, got me 51.94 mpg, or I'll just say 52mpg!

Um, well I don't exactly know, I didn't go on any special long driving trips or anything. Normal Routine with auto shifting.

Hey Jefferios...congrats on the mileage.......i was averaging the same 40-42 every tank and last week filled up and was getting 49....mileage seemes to get better as the car breaks in...also noticed a change in when the car tells you when to shift in manual mode, doesnt shift as early as before....car is at about 2000 miles

I saw a thing on Kare11 where this kid would cut his engine at highway speeds to cut fuel costs. Did you do that too?

EOC

E
ngine
Off
Coasting

I used to do that with my Geo Metro. I have been neutral coasting with mine, hills in Florida aren't all that big but I can coast about 3/4 of a mile on the way home. This has helped me recover on some horrible tanks as I have yet to dip under 40mpg.

GREAT JOB
jefferios. At such a low amount of miles on your car, you're doing great!!! Let us know how the next tank is on this thread though.
