Driving conditions make an enormous difference. The more short trips means that many more cold starts, which translates into reduced mpg - especially in winter.

I agree, I've brought it down to 28 mpg!!! haha.. but have average 35 mpg.. and have the ability to go up to 40 mpg but... not the way how I drive my smart.. I drifted onto the freeway on the onramp that makes a sweeping turn onto the freeway haha. Yea my tires are almost out at 18,000 miles and if it wasn't for traction control they'll be gone in no time =P and my brakes probably will last me to 25,000 if anything lol hehe..
