EXACTLY?

I have found that it is usually not a good idea to use words one doesn't understand. I would have rather had the convenience package (power steering and all the rest) without the black leather leather required. It would have been nice to have ordered cruise control with my $17,000 car, but that wasn't even an option. I don't think it would have been to much to ask that at least a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty would be included. Doesn't sound that fitting to a T applies either. Curtis however has hit the nail on the head so to speak. Even though his language carries with it a slightly angry tone, I couldn't agree with him more whole heartedly. The company's practices are pathetic and may come back to haunt each one of us when problems arise.

Lets be honest here. We all know when we ordered that this would be an adventure. My short test loop tells me that the car is a good car. But it is casting out into the unknown to a certain degree. Maybe we didn't think it would be like this. But it is. Many of us will use our smarts not as they were meant to... The nearest big city is Montreal. I live in a rural area and I may have a fair amount of interstate driving to do. I would have liked to have cruise too, but you don't need it for a city car... I am having cold feet to an extent because I am concerned how much of a rural car it can be, with frost heaves and ground clearance and all that. That is the down side of an adventure, probing the unknown....

I actually think the Yaris is a better car but I just like the Smarts look, I actually find the performance and the shifting of the Smart horrible. I still want one but I'm not going to kid myself by saying its better than a Toyota. If the IQ was out today i'd buy one in a heart-beat over the Smart

I felt the same disappointment as many have. However, once your Smart arrives the ill feelings will be replaced with joy and satisfaction in your decision to stick it out.

Lgaruti, that is true but if I receive mine after 1,000 other people in my city I doubt I will feel too cool especially after I ordered min March 2007.

For goodness sake, why on earth are you buying a car you obviously dislike so much? Get your $99 back and let the orphan go to someone who'll actually appreciate it.

MicroNut, sorry, I know it's a subsidiary or Benz but you know as well as me it's no Benz. It's a cool looking little car but it's not a Benz, don't kid yourself, it's a $12,000 car that looks like it should be on a shelf at Toys R US.. Don't get me wrong, I love the car and have wanted one for years and even went to the dealership in Hong Kong just to sit inside of one but when I pay the sticker price I know what I'm getting, a brand like Toyota give far better warranties because they know they make a very high quality car. As far as performance and quality I really doubt the Smart can even compare with a Toyota yaris or Scion XA but as for style the Smart is top shelf.

Curtis, your right , it is not a Benz. Not owned or built by Mercedes. Smart and Mercedes are owned by Diamler. Thats like saying " My Festiva is built by Lincoln." A smart is a smart. For better or worse. It is what it is, not what you wish it was. Mine is great, I didn't agonize one minute over getting one.

Not exactly... The car is engineered by Mercedes and the tranmission is built by Mercedes. The Europeans I have met consider it a Mercedes vehicle which is assembled in France. I guess it is like saying that my Honda is still a Honda even though it is built in Canada and has many parts sourced by non-Honda suppliers.
