10,000 Miles/One Year

Reset maintenance counter in cluster

Replace the following:
activated charcoal filter for A/C
engine oil and filter

Check the following:
body, undersie of vehicle and paint for damage
barke system/brake hoses for tightness
disk brake pads for lining thickness
engine coolant level and strength
engine, gearbox, tubes and hoses for tightness
exhaust system for tightness and correct fixation
horn, interior and exterior lights, warning lights, A/C system, seat heating for proper operation
parking brake function
tires and wheels for damage, condition and single-sided wear
tire pressure, correct if necessary
tire tread depth
windshield washer system fluid level, correct if necessary
windshield wiper blade condition and wiper /washer system function

Just in case anyone was wondering what the first service is. It's basically an oil and filter change and an inspection of things that would normally be checked during an oil change if you went to jiffy lube. It's also a brake inspection. Not worth $200 in my opinion.

choice

you have a choice - don't go to a dealer - go to an independent garage

Don't hold your breath. Smart has been in Canada since late 2004 and it is not any better at many dealerships.

However.... the OP was quoted $200 and paid $180. Was quoted 2.5 hours and took 2.66 hours. What was the problem again?

I have only one small question. After they performed all the listed services, what did they do for the other hour and forty five minutes?

Service at smart in Buckhead, Atlanta

Can anyone comment on the 10,000 oil change/inspection/cost/service at the smart center in Buckhead, Atlanta? Just wondering what I have to lookforward to.

I have serviced my wifes' smart Passion twice now with an oil filter change, oil change (Mobil 1 - M108 oil filter and Mobil 1 5w20 oil) and a new smart copper "crush" washer and all the other check up items. Have not changed the "Activated charcoal air filter" for the air conditioner yet as that it was not needed (this was done all with-in 5,000 miles). Both times this service was done for less then $35.00 in parts and approximately 1.5 hours including clean up time afterwards. Sorry, I guess that I'm not a "certified" mechanic so I can't charge the wife $180.00 or better...nor is she a master chef, but I've never went hungry yet...
