Just got new E MAIL from SMART 09 Changes

Dear smart enthusiasts,
smart USA would like to provide you with information regarding the 2009 smart fortwo model. The 2009 model will begin to arrive in early November and will feature the same performance, safety, and design features that make smart so unique, but with a few changes.
Here are some of the changes to our standard features, which are also available to see on www.smartusa.com:
A vibrant and sporty new standard color, “rally red”, will replace “light yellow”.
The cool and sophisticated optional color, “metallic gray”, will replace “red metallic”.
The “design red” fabric interior available on the passion coupe and passion cabriolet will be more intense to match the exterior rally “red”.
On the driver and passenger doors, the current built-in hard case door storage areas will be replaced with a net to for a more flexible storage space.
A “Loose Gas Cap” indicator light has been added to the instrument cluster to inform you if your gas cap is not fully locked.
The discontinued colors, “light yellow” and “metallic red” will continue to be available by purchasing full bodypanel freshup kits through your smart center.
At this time, there is one new factory-installed option for the 2009 model. Customers can now order the smart fortwo passion coupe with a solid roof instead of the standard panoramic roof at no additional cost. The solid roof is made of the same resilient textured plastic as the pure coupe. Please note, however, the panorama roof upgrade option will no longer be available on the smart fortwo pure coupe. Any additional factory-installed options that become available will be communicated at a later date. Finally, the prices of the 2009 model are yet to be confirmed.
smart USA will begin inviting small groups of reservation holders to participate in the Reservation Confirmation Program for the 2009 model in late August. You can expect to start seeing the new 2009 smart fortwos in smart centers around the country in November.

I did just check the smartusa site, and it looks like they are starting to make changes! They have taken off the configurator, added a post for the 2009, next to the car on the main page it doesn't say 2008 smart anymore, looked at the reservation page and the color choices have changed! But i may have seen what the rally red looks like, not sure though, some of the old red pictures look darker i guess? and obviously no prices yet if there is no configurator anymore...unless you can get there by clicking somewhere other than on the home page? Hopefully they will be done by the end of the day...!?!

Was at the dealer, they got my new door skin. Was told that the New Red is to be a renamed "MB- Mars Red" That's what was told to me!

After going to the smartusa site and looking at the new color pallete I fell asleep. ZZZZzzzzzzz boring.

I guess it wouldn't be cost effective to do ONE different loud color every year.

I got the email today as well.....perhaps the early batch was sent to those still waiting first?

In any event, I was just over at smartusa.com as well, and noticed that they have updated the model choice links (ie, pure, passion coupe, and cabrio) and the prices look to be the same - that would be nice if they don't change them for 09! They have already added the N/C option of deleting the panoramic roof off the coupe, and likewise eliminated it as an option on the pure, so the links are not just simply '08's info.... Of course the disclaimer at the bottom still exists, so it is possible they will still go up anyway.

Dealer said" Ken Worth" Sales mgt, that they will be E Mailing invites to config, in a few weeks. Said it will be in small groups! Next Paragraph was to be first!! Screwed up!!

Will just got back from my dealer again, they will be replacing the driver side door panel. It has stress cracks, 8AM tomorow.While there got Pix's of three newly re painted orphans. All now @ 24K!!! Great color's though,Will be on new post.

what the hell will, yellow was buy far the best color and with my red int, the match was made.

well we already ordered our next one month ago and went white/black
