On the sixth try i finally have a smart (huzzah for me!)
it's an 08' and only has 1500 miles on it.
The big question is what should i do with it maintainence wise? like changing the oil, and filters. I feel like i should be doing the 20,000 mile service but im 18,500 miles short.
Also what updates do i need to get done and can my mercedes dealer do it. Im about 300 miles from the closest Smart center. It's in Chicago and I hate that city with a passion.
If anyone can think of anything else I should do please tell me. Thanks in advance for the help!
i bought it at a used dealership. The person that had it before me bought one for himself and one for his mom. He traded both in for one car. She obviously didnt drive it much. no records, just a paper saying i get factory warranty. i also have a paper from smart center La Vista.
if it's an '08 and only 1500 miles, this would depend when the mileage was added? was it stored for a long time? driven to church only weekly for the past 2-3 years? I would bet it has not had the 10k/1 year check-up. There have been many updates (computer-wise, battery...). It would be worth the one day+ trip to get the updates alone.
im gonna call the Lake bluff center on monday (if they're open) and get all of this figured out. im tight on cash so I hope I can get this stuff done for cheap.

Not sure what exactly you're looking for, but that's the list of everything you're supposed to do routinely. It all works on 10,000 mile/1 year increments.
The main software update (2.0) improves shifting and fixes a problem with clutch wear. Sometimes they also throw in a new clutch (if it had worn excessively) and a bigger battery (original was a bit undersized). If you don't have this, it is definitely worthwhile.
