Just placed a second reservation, this time for a pure... have some questions
I just placed my second reservation and I have reserved a Pure this time. I was looking at the comparison chart and noticed some things that are 'N/A' for the Pure that I really want. I would really like power windows, electronic mirrors, and fog lamps. I know, you say to get a passion, however I really do not want the panorama top. I also do not want the OEM radio. Are the options I desire available for installation after the fact?
Adding factory options AFTER the car is built is very hard and costly...IF it can be done. I have a Pure....love it BECAUSE everything is manual! Try it!
The items you want are so basic I would just get the pure. Aftermarket light kits are all over the place, window kits can be purchased from custom shops (they put them in old cars all the time, I have a set). Mirrors, oh well.
Fog lamps could be added aftermarket, the electronic mirrors would only be nice if you have multiple drivers, and I have the feeling you may be out of luck trying to switch manual windows to power, except as noted above. But otherwise...its a smart - go for it!
We are ready to place our order for our second Smart, The only thing holding us up is the Cruise control We want the factory Cruise. It is amazing to us that Smart did not market it as an option
The pure does allow for AC to be added though. I would really like cruise too, but I would rather have my smart sooner and add it later. I just wish I could get the passion without the panorama top.

I'm pretty much a "pure" type guy also, but got the "passion". The panorama top is really pretty neat, even though I wouldn't have chosen it. I wouldn't be afraid of it. And I live in FL also. The cover inside keeps the heat out pretty well. And I like the paddle shifters on the passion. They don't come on the pure. So, my vote would be to go for the passion. After you add AC on the pure, there's not much more of a price increase with the passion to get the other stuff. And the AC is definitely a necessity down here.
