Large People and Smart cars, any experences?

Im ordering my smart car as soon as I get the extra $100. By the time it arives I will be in a better job as promised by the state. My question is this: I am a large guy, around 325, but muscular as well as fluffy. My wife is 425, and more fluffy than muscular. We both love the car and can fit in it just fine. But not comfortably at the same time. If any large people who have or are going to buy the smart would please let us know your experiences. And no flaming please.

Have no experience but the following is quoted from the smart fortwo brochure for US cars

Curb weight without driver 1808#
Permissible total weight 2315#

Im sure it will be fine 50 lbs either way, but we have already discussed that it will mainly be a 1 person car.

I fit easily!

I am only 5'7" but weight 345-350 and I fit very comfortably. I always feel cramped or can't get in and out of small cars, but not so with the smart. ;)

The total weight limit for the car would be my only concern, with 2 heavy people. 325 plus 425 would be overload, if I'm not mistaken.

The best thing to do is go and get in one. Each of us has an opinion on what is comfortable. The cab is near 2 inches narrower than my Neon. I'm 6'2"/220 and my brother is slightly smaller and we're fine in it. Bottom line what do you find comfortable. Guarantee you will fit but will you like it? Let us know.

I promised a friend of mine that I would drive straight to her house and have her husband try to sit in it. She says no way....I am betting that he can.

He is 6 foot 4 280....
Will I win?

We love it. My wife would like more room, but it would work if we had to. As far as teh weight limit is concerned, check out this vid of the mitzu 'i'. They feature 2 smarts at the end... just take a look.
