Take your time and make sure they take time for you too. Listen to the entire explination right down to how to keep the rear carpet held up while you remove the engine cover. If they show you how to do something, watch and then make sure you do it yourself no matter how trivial it may seem.

Think about the cargo cover/divider ($±150) to avoid your trunk's content to slide under your seats...

to the right side there is a square hole about 18 inches up from the carpet floor.. kinda near the back of the seat, on the plastic panel. That hole is meant for the clip attached to the actual carpet. its a little awkward to put in place but Thats what holds the carpet up!
Oh don't buy their supplemental warranties.. they are just a money maker for the dealer and offer little to no value to you. as far as their scare tactics of "it will pay for towing!" well so will smart the first 2 years and after that get AAA. Heck get AAA now and use their discount on Hotels... you know you are gona want to go on trips in your new smart!

Find out if they have a velcro item that will help keep things from rolling from your cargo area to the seats. The "Smart french fry" as I like to refer to it is less than 2" swuare in cross-section but is as long as your cargo area is wide. These things are like $20 but can be used to make bags and boxes snug-up just perfect. The velcro attaches to the carpet and the french fry can be bent into any shape along the carpet. It's great!

Also - find out if they have installed your front license plate holder. If not, consider a no-holes plate holder like the one here or ask them to install the front plate holder for you if you need it.

Thanks, I have already let them know I don't need holes drilled since I will be registering it in Oklahoma where we don't have front plates.

I'm not sure I'm going to spend anything just yet on stuff for the cargo area. I live alone and only ever have two grocery bags of stuff or less and I throw them on the passenger seat in my current car. Haven't used the trunk in AGES.

Even more so - the back doors on my car are a pain in the ass to unlock so it is essentially a two-seater anyway! (Not that I ever drive with even a second person in the car...)

Make sure they explain how the windshield and rear window wipers work~! The first couple of time I used them, I got rather bumfuzzled, esp. with the rear one! It comes on if you put it in reverse if the front one is on . . . confusing, and I kept trying to turn it off, LOL!
