I asked about that at my smart center when I got mine and they said it didn't do that. Got home and tried it and sure enough when you have the front wipers on and put it into reverse the rear wiper comes on. My sales person must have a Cabrio.

Pickup checklist ideas

Let's see... what everyone has already mentioned plus...

1. If you have a Radio 10 (CD changer), give it a check. One of my cars had a problem at delivery that the dealer didn't catch with the changer.

2. Make sure they show you what my dealer called the 'bad day' area (air pump/goo) and how to get into it. It's good to see it demonstrated.

3. Make sure they show you how to unlock the car if the keyless entry isn't working or the battery is dead (pull out plug under handle on driver's door).

4. If you want to keep the window sticker in good shape (for your records and a memento), tell them before it's half demolished by someone trying to remove it quickly.

5. You might want to practice removing and realigning/fastening the hood and engine cover while someone can watch and show you any tricks to make it easier.

That's about all I can think of from my experience... good luck and enjoy!

I bought both the all-weather rubber mats (for winter) and the velour mats (for summer). IIRC, they both go for somewhere in the $50-60 range per pair.

Worth every penny of it, IMHO...

Oh, and one more thing: try both keys. It happened once, that we know of, but two keys were crossed matched and it took lots of doing to get the right key to the right owner...

I'll second this one. The engine cover and hood can be very frustrating to align just right... they don't just snap in place intuitively. But once you know how, it takes just a few seconds to get it right.

And... if you do get a flat tire, any tire shop can fix it. It's just a tire on a wheel. Nothing magical, Smart, or European about it.

Above all, take your time learning how the car drives -- it's not your basic Toyota automatic, it's got what we call "personality."

Oh my gosh, you guys, it's the most amazing car I've ever seen in my life.

Here I am being windblown.

I got window tinting and the GREATEST pinstripe (It has the little C> on it!!!) and Allison did not even charge me. She made me drive it manually even though I was terrified. Absolutely wonderful experience all around!

It had 9 miles when I got it and now it has about 240.

Congrats!! The wait may be over but the fun is just beginning!

I love that they arranged the special-order Smart for you; I understand they've only made a few smarts matched to the height of the driver.

The two of you look absolutely wonderful together!
