Less Than MSRP?

I got a call from my dealer last week saying my Smart would be here in a few weeks. I asked him if they were getting many orphans and he said they had 15 on the lot. In another thread I saw a number of other dealers appear to have quite a few cars as well.

So, are dealers coming off the MSRP to move some of the cars on their lot? Looks like you should be able to buy a Smart right now at a discount.

I don't know but I would suggest the only possibility a discount may have existed was for a 2008 car left at the dealership too far into the 2009 model year. There's still enough interest that it's not likely there have been discounts for "this months" orphans.

Just conjecture.

The orphans we have seen are going for full msrp. Saw several of them leave the lot on Saturday in Fort Worth.

In the time I spent at the dealership Saturday it looked like two cars aside from mine were sold at sticker price.
