I second your comment Dunerunner....spot on.
German engineering is not snake oil. The company research in how the lubricants and coatings attach to the surfaces, what are their strength and surface energies, how do they break down, how do they self heal, how can they extend their life time, can they be reapplied to the surface at service areas, what are their performance benefits is well documented.
The research also provides info on the extreme abrasion and wear resistance, high impact strength, remarkably low surface energy, increased thermal conductivity and thermal transfer(what we are after in a good lubricant), high nonstick(release) properties, lowest friction(energy consumption) attainable, erosion and chemical protection, excellent corrosion resistance and wide temperature range.
Yes they also said that they are a few years away, but from the research, it will most certainly increase gas mileage, but for now all we got is Mobil 1.....and I don't call it snake oil...with or without lipstick....lol
