There are some (105!) great tips to help people increase fuel efficiency.

I also read a blog kept by a Canadian who gets 100+ mpg out of his biodiesel smart. Wow!

I'm wondering if the 'pulse & glide' technique works for smart cars. I know that we have a highly sensitive and 'brainy' little engine, so I'm hoping I can still use this technique (speed up/slow down +/- 10 mph around a desired speed) in order to pick up even more mpgs.

I'm currently up to about 47 mpg on average (mainly hway driving, 60 mph, no major mountains and few stops), but I'm hoping to pick up another 10-20%. I'm also going to increase tire pressure a bit to see what effect that has. The site above recommends going to 1 psi below the max recommended for the tires (which is higher than what's written on the inside of the door). I think it may be 43 psi, tho this also depends on factors like the weather.

Yep, mentioned before. The max pressure on the tire is just that - not what's recommended by smart. The more you inflate the tire, the less "footprint" or contact it has with the road (not to mention really stiffening up the ride!) Not good for the handling, especially in rain or snow.

Right, so I'll try that today and prolly keep it like that till the weather changes (or there's lots of rain, etc).
