Hehe. I didn't see a red one. Relax, if you don't like red later, just change the body panels. I'll be doing that, too.

Flip down; no swivel.

I gotcha.

I'm really split between the Grey/Grey/Black Leather interior
and
Red/Black/Red cloth interior.

Decisions decisions.

The Red/Black/Red seems to be one of the most aesthetic looking color combos that I've seen in the Smart.

One thing is for sure... you have a LOT more fun eeking out every horse from an underpowered car than you do from a car with too many horses on hand. What challenge is there in excess? People don't go to Vegas because they expect to win... it's all about the challenge... and that's where making the most of your 70 HP will give you a thrill.
I love Isettas We were looking at all kinds of microcars at one point, was very interesting.

I do understand the fun in winding up a lower hp car (have a new Mini now) but on the other hand sometimes a burst of power, as well as good brakes of course, is needed for self preservation (and in a city full of drivers not paying attention it is not rare) - I guess I'm wondering how the Smart will handle it.

As for the whole driving a slow car fast vs a fast car slow debate, well I can't agree as a blanket statement. I can have a lot of fun dipping into the responsive torque and power of a good handling fast car going slow, just because a car can easily fly to the high triple digits doesn't mean its not grin inducing at lesser speeds (edit: and the challenge at any speed is the balance/control of speed, physics and grip) - depends on the car, in either case, as always ;)

But I digress, thanks again for the review, and if you get any impressions of the lights and such it would be nice to hear 'em.

have to agree. i had an M3 a few years back that was almost undriveable for daily commuting. clutchwork was tough to master. hard to get a smooth shift unless you wind it out. the S5 though is amazing. super smooth shifts at 4k or 7k, with more punch than you will ever need to get you out of trouble.

the reality for me is that probably the only time my Smart will even see the freeway is when i'm driving it home from the dealer so i should be good.

Very impressed with my test drive. Feels a lot like my wife's mini. The paddle shifters worked great. Hit a MAJOR pothole and still survived and the speed bumps were not as bad as expected. Can't wait!

Woofer for the upgraded radio is under the drivers butt. Turn it up and have some fun!

I agree. I think it is much more fun to work a low powered car hard than to try to exercise self-restraint in an over-powered car.
