I'd rather go doing something I love, like driving (a smart) or swimming...

Suze, see how persuasive a photo of Mt. Hood can be? LOL

Oh well, the post served the purpose of letting me know the scrapes are only of cosmetic concern. And, they're only visible with your head on the ground, or with the car on a lift. So, I guess I won't worry too much about it. Bums me out nevertheless. If I have to chose between repairing some hard to see scrapes which have no mechanical implications, and buying a new gadget ... not a very hard choice.

(don't tell them about Western Oregon)

Now, if y'all really wanna talk about volcanoes ...

Washington state is calling you.

We have one 60 miles from Lake Chapala, that smokes every day; Colima Volcan de Fuego, right next to Nevada de Colima, which often has snow on top, as the name indicates. Google will get you pictures.

Mine broke into 3 pieces, they're sitting in the dumpster waiting for Larry, Daryl and Daryl to come and haul them away The dealer said they're fairly cheap, about 50 bucks for the part, and about 20-30 to put it on.

I'm going to Seattle soon for some med testing. How close are these volcanos to Seattle?

Mt St. Helens is about halfway between Seattle and Portland east of the major north/south freeway Interstate 5. Probably a 2 1/2 hour drive, but worth the view. They have a very nice visitor's center. Recently a guy was climbing around the edge of the cone on the snow and got too close and fell off. He may have made it to the bottom 1,500 feet below, but was gone by the time they were able to retrieve him - shame.

Much closer to Seattle and a great place to visit and hike a little and great scenery is Mt Rainier down highway 7. It has steam caves, but it would be a major climb to get there. It is snow covered year 'round. We were at the visitor center at Paradise last year and it has been newly renovated. One can even stay at the lodge there (with reservations).
