- one car has 24.5k miles so far and ZERO problems
- the other car has 8.5k miles so far and ZERO problems (knock on wood for both cars
- my parents who live right around the corner from me have one. 1 problem - defective sun shade. 6.5k miles on it
- my parents non-SCOA member next door neighbors have two - ZERO problems

My dealer? 80 miles from the dealer an issue? I'm closer to 200 miles.....do I regret it? No. Happy with the cars. My dad says he wants a convertible instead of a coupe and his neighbors have #3 on order. We're all 200 miles from the dealer.

We have three, with about 40,000 miles between them. Not a single problem with any of them, at any point.

We bought the cars for the funky, different look, not because we were "green" or were particularly concerned about low operating costs (although those are wonderful, too!!!!!), and after driving them for a year, would do it again in a heartbeat. Yeah, your teeth rattle every once in a while, but you learn which potholes to avoid.

I had a Mercedes SLK that would blow a tail light bulb every month or two. It was so difficult to replace that we had to take it to a shop, and if I remember right, it was about $150 a pop. Tuneups cost an arm and a leg, and the insurance was far higher on it, too.

I filled my car up this morning, for $10.04 and just grinned like a pussycat. Literally, with the money we've saved on gas, insurance, and maintenance for three vehicles, when the second kid hit college last fall, we barely even felt it. I feel like thanking my car every day.

Convertible weather hit here on Monday, and the top has been down ever since. I just can't tell you how much I enjoy this little car.

I saw my dream car, a CLK convertible the other day, and it occurred to me.....it's no longer my dream car. I love my Smart so much, it is!

I went through smart finance and haven't had a problem. I had a hard time finding the place to pay on line so I called and they were great. This was all very new to them too the guy that helped me was working off of "how to" sheets to get me where I had to go. Very helpful... no problems at all

Buy Both!

You are talking about a car that you can sell at a profit immediately after you take delivery!!
The only thing I can think of is if it is your only car YOU MAY BE IN TROUBLE.

I love my hopefully future smart! I'm not a fast driver so speed is not a problem. It has what I call "Value Luxury". I don't need to haul a ton of people as I will mostly be by myself or one other. To make it short, NOBODY CAN MAKE ME NOT WANT THIS CAR!!!

I defend smart for what it is no matter how much I get laughed at and teased at school because the car is great and not many believe it.

Besides, I've got a tiny fan club started (I think ) and a Junior already owns a bumblebee (I don't know him, but I saw his ride at Homecoming)

I am not one for speed either but there are times I realize I am going faster than I thought.

I ordered my passion 18 months ago and just picked it up 3 weeks ago. I, too, was getting cold feet but as soon as I saw my baby it was love at first sight. I drove her out of the lot a very happy woman.
BTW, our dealer offered a 60 mo bumper to bumper warranty with 60k, 80k, and 100k options. I went for the 60/60k option. It costs some extra money, but I thought it was definitely worth it. They also offered lesser mileage options, but this was the best for me. I'm sure your dealer has same. You won't be sorry.

It's easy to do! I ended up buying my orphan (the same color and model that I wanted just dropped right in my lap!) and I've found that I could be doing about 50 in a 35 without knowing it! I'm a lot more careful now that I've gotten used to it.

Megan: Start emailing the dealership every week. Ask if he's got orphans that come close or match the car you want! I'll betcha one shows up for you!
