Mini Envy

Where I live, in Miami, there are many Minis around. Its hard to go on a drive without seeing them. What I have noticed from day one is the look of 'damn, I thought my rig was small' or 'whoops, looks like I bought the wrong car'. Anyone notice this as well or is it all in my head? I know its not ALL in my head because of all 6 dealerships I have been to, most if not all have had at least one mini on the lot as a trade in.

The Smart may be shorter, but it's TALLER, so there's more headroom, and the inside feels much roomier.

Which is one of the reasons I am swapping my Mini for a Smart. The Mini will do 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 220km/h. However 95% of my driving is crawling along in peak hour traffic at 80km/h at best. Just didn't make sense.

Now y'all are getting me excited about the Mini. It's bad enough that I have Miata-envy and slight Samurai-envy. I've found that if I wait 15-20 years after I first fall in love with a car, that I can then easily buy it on a whim. The bridge car I bought a month ago, a '99 Outback, is something I always wanted, but now I realize that I need high-clearance, not so much 4WD for the back country roads around here.
