OK, I visited AutoTrader.com and Minis with over 100,000 mile are still commanding $12,000. Does that mean people like them?

They're really not all that expensive, new.[OK, I just configured one:red with white roof, interior chrome package, interior red package...came out to $19,700...not bad.]

My wife's MINI is a great handling, quick little sports car. My smart is a cute tiny car.

About the only similarities between the two cars in my garage is that they both have four wheels and use premium fuel.

BTW, my wife is sitting here laughing. She said she envies NO smart car. LOL

Last year, while driving to Seattle in our stream green smart diesel, I passed a woman in a MINI who had a homemade sticker on the side window that said "actual size". She steadfastly refused to even glance at our car as we passed her on I-5.....

MINI envy definitely exists!

I had a MINI owner absolutely refuse to make eye contact with me at the gas pumps the other day. I whipped in, put my 6 gallons in the tank and started to get back in to drive off about the time he was putting the nozzle away. Furrowed brow. Deep frown. Most of the people I see at the gas station with that sort of look are Suburban owners or their ilk.

Let's cut to the chase, the Mini has a back seat. So if you're extremely social or have kids - get the Mini. If you are like everyone else that doesn't need a truck - get a Smart.

While it is true that the mini has four seats, a one hour ride in the back seat will leave a person deformed for life. After a half hour drive numbness in legs and tush usually leaves the body within a day or so. A woman driving a mini got caught at the same traffic light as I did today and the look of pity she gave me almost made me cry and beg forgiveness. Then I came to my senses and realized that she thought she had the superior car. When all the time I knew I had it. Perception versus reality. When will these mini driver ever face facts?

Hmmm, the MINI is built in the UK and the smart is built in France. Both parent companies are German, yes.

The MINI is pepper white, actually more cream to me. My smart is refrigerator white.
