It would behoove smart USA and MB to do some damage control pretty quickly before this story gets out of hand, if it's not too late already.

How would you propose they do so?

That wasn't to bad, some of the other articles I read wanted the cars band from the highways.I wish they would get that gas mileage right.

How does it test against other micro cars??? I think its a bit unfair when you campare a Smart with a big SUV....I'll bet the Smart does better than most if not all micro cars....test a Nano.......

Mmmm. This brings all the memory's of the famous Elk test rushing back.

I don't think this is on the same scale, but smart and MB need to step up to this pretty quickly to get it under control

The harsh reality is that the smart shares the roads with SUV's and big rigs so the comparison is fair. If you watch the MB video of the smart and MS sedan hitting head on, you can see the smart holds up remarkably well structurally, but the laws of physics still apply. The smart completely stops and then starts moving backwards, while the larger sedan is till moving forward, so while the stucture is fine the decelleration loads on the occupants in the smart will be much larger.

I KNOW a Smart is going to come out on the short end with a SUV crash. But some comparison needs to be made between apples and apples....not apples and giant pumpkins! But my Smart does not have a sticker price of a SUV, not the operating cost, the carbon footprint, the physical space etc....I chose to go with the Smart still.....
