Great to hear positive news from current owners. Us waiters can only go by what you that have taken delivery have to say. The boards tend to lean on the negative side of things, but that's true of all boards; mostly complainers. Glad you've had such good luck and love the car. I've managed to take 3 "test drives" and am dying to take delivery of "my" car around next april!

avg 43.31mpg-18.3k GREEN!
|
I've got 8100 miles and NO problems on my car.
My parents have a Passion as well - 600 miles and the sunvisor is the only problem. Not too much of a big deal. I'll look at it more closely later on when I find time.

just over 3k on mine, last fill up got 47.1 mpg, driving all in auto mode, it seems as the miles on the engine increase, so does the mpg. I imagine it will be fully broke in by 5k. no major problems.

Just for reference, with a shot of confidence for you 'newbies'.......
We just turned 16,500 KM on our 2007 Passion. That translates to about 11,000 miles. We have had no problems whatsoever, except for a blowout on a right rear tire in a tunnel at 70 MPH. Even that was a surprisingly pleasant event and, if we hadn't seen the tire blow past us, we might not have known that we had a blowout. Beads stayed on the rim and we were able to transit the tunnel and a flyway into the city (Mobile, AL) to search for a new tire. This Smart is very reliable and we enjoy it almost every day. Even though our gasoline is only about $2.70 per gallon in Mexico, we still leave the Pathfinder in the garage except for rare occasions where space is needed. I hope your 2008 models with the Mitzubishi engine are just as dependable as our full Mercedez models. They should be, as Smart has lots of experience with the 4/4 and the diesels that had engines by Mitzubishi.

I will hit 5k this morning on the way home. I Picked up my smart on May 22, and already have 5k on it. NO issues at all. Had oil changed at dealer around 1350k and bought black/silver smart mats for floorboards. Car is running great, comfortable, still able to pass when need/want to. I drive 59 miles O/W to work out of the foothills into the Piedmont of NC. With A/C, high humidity and my lead foot, 60/40 open road./country roads with maybe 8-10 stop lights I am consistently seeing 41-43MPG!! Absolutley no complaints.

smart car owners
Just wondering for all you who already own the smart car. After putting down the 99 dollars, avg time to wait to hear back from dealer to finialize?
Are these cars mercedes quailty or dodge? Reason I'm asking is I have read mixed reviews about short and long term issues with the car.
Thanks

Mace178, the configuration e-mail your receive really isn't from the dealer, it is a smart car system generated communication. We didn't hear from the dealer until the car was 45 days out or about 13 1/2 months after the $99. Our #1225. However, when your DDE, Delivery Date Estimator, early date is about 3 months away, the dealer should be able to supply you with the VIN#. They then can start telling you about all of the status changes - in production, in transit to the boat, on the boat, at the dock, expected date at the dealership. After you confirm, pick final configuration, you should start to see dates on the DDE site. The general rule of thumb for delivery is about a month after the early DDE date.
