My Area 451 cruise died today..... (READ THE WHOLE POST!) - Smart Car of America Forums : Smart Car Forum

..........or I THOUGHT it died! After 30,000 plus faithful miles of using my Area 451 cruise it stopped working today. I got a little frantic, called a friend and asked for input, which was helpful as I completely didn't even think about the E-brake possibly being up a click. Checked it, no go.

SO I decided to pull over and switch the car off and restart it, once again no go.

Finally I decided to unplug the brain box. I pulled over to do the deed, got out of the car and while I was walking around to the back of the car it hit me!!! Check the passenger door! Sure enough I walked around to the wife's side and her door wasn't closed all the way! Opened and closed it all the way and then I was on my way, cruise working great! While I blamed the wife for the cruise not working she blamed smart for not making dinging noises when the door is ever so slightly ajar.

SO.....I thank you Area 451 for a trouble free excellent product WITH safety features!

30k+ trouble free miles over the last year and a half. It has been a great product!

Time to rip that thing out, Get a new one and send the old one to me

It is when the light is switched on. Mine is off. Normally don't need it.

Happened to me couple of month ago. I was driving and noticed that my MDC light flashing. Tried to engage CC and it did not worked. Later found my rear hatch window was not completely shut.
