My car looks like a shoe.

That's what everyone keeps telling me. Maybe a baby shoe...

They also keep asking me "What's so smart about it?" and I don't really have an answer for them.

Whats so smart about it

First look in the driver door jam and you will see the recycling information.
Second, the Trident Safety cell allowing a small car to be safe and not cruch like a can, it will just bounce
Third is the manufacturing process. Smartville is designed to be efficant and better on the environmnet. check out Going to SMARTVILLE More efficant and compact. Supplyers are right on site and don't require items to be shipped in.

Ill let others chime in with answers to this question now.

Someone must have really stubby toes! I'm used to shoes having a longer, less tall flat part where the toes slide in. With the windshield going almost to the front bumper, there's no room for toes.

You are the first person I know to experience the comment that it looks like a shoe. Not since the days of the AMC gremlin have I come across a car that looks like a shoe.

My wife and I called the first gen RAV4, especially the two door, a 'baby boot', so I can see where the shoe comment comes from. I had an idea for a photo that would have someone standing on top of two smarts parked very close together and shot from down low in front so it would look like to large shoes.

smartness? As others have said: the level of safety and features available in a very small package; good gas mileage and low maintenance costs (10K oil changes); ease of parking and creative parking possibilities; 'greenness' when you consider not only efficiency, but production and end-of-life environmental factors (where will all those hybrid batteries go and how good are they for the environment?); don't forget the replaceable, recyclable plastic body panels (no door dings, and if damaged, just replace the panel without body work, etc.).

The Isuzu vehicross looks like a running shoe

I used to think it was cool, back when gas was les than a buck, but I could never gat past the over stated interior. It reminded me of the brghtly colored leather jackets "Im the 8 ball"

a shoe or a roller skate?

So the Smart reminds people of a shoe or small boot? If shake it, would that mean you are 'shaking your bootie'?

Wait til you get the question/comment--"What happens if you get hit by a semi?" That is my personal favorite, people tend to forget that it really does not matter what you are driving if you get hit by a semi, you will probably die. Or "Why do they call it a smart car?", which is just a stupid question. Too many stupid people out there, you don't see me asking "Why do they call it a Firebird, it is neither on fire or a bird?"
