My MPG numbers

The car is new and the odometer turned 1,000 m iles just yesterday.
Here are the conditions:
*never driven on the freeway or the interstate
*always premium gas
*mostly short trips, for instance home to grocery (3 miles one way), home to post office (6 miles one way), home to gym (1 mile one way). Most of these short trips are stop and go with red lights.
*longest trips is to church, 16 miles one way with many stop lights.
*the MPG was calculated over 4 tanks fill ups.

So my driving situation (because of the short trips and stop lights) should give you an idea of the worst MPG.

I am getting 31.6 MPG

Ok you covered the brek in period, Now go have some fun and get out on the highway. Heck, go get lost for 1/2 a day and your milage should start to show some improvement. Long weekend comming up, its time to visit somewhere, anywhere at least 100 miles away.

That poor little car hasn't even been warmed up properly. Get out on the highway, accelerate and exhilarate yourself. Then, find a twisty mountain road and experience some amazing handling characteristics. Enjoy your Smart!

LOL...seriously? To the OP, if you want to swap in some aftermarket coils and put rear wheels/tires up front you'll experience ~decent~ handling characteristics. Until then treat it like an 1985 Ford extended passenger van driving on flat tires in a wind storm.

At least mine doesn't wallow like a pig. Sounds like you might need some air over in OK. Mine with stock tires leaves most everything in the twisties, and that includes some "sportscars".

Mine just hit 6,000, and is not doing what I'd want either. My problem has been attributed to my heavy foot and need to prove to the F350 drivers that I'm not some go-cart POS. I just changed my oil the first time last weekend, and I'm hoping to see some MPG changes.

And as previously stated, ignore Okiesmart. He/she tends to be a bit abrasive.

If by abrasive, you mean as annoying as having root canal performed by a chimpanzee with a Dremel, then I'd have to agree.
