Unicycle -
The panel swap took a little over 2 hours, but the dealer charged for just 2. Very fair, IMO.

pwbapro-
No, the panels didn't go home in the smart, they went home ON jaciinsf's smart! (We traded!)

jaciinsf -
I'm so glad you like the silver! See you around...

It's nearly impossible to conceive that a car's color could be changed any day on a whim, as if it were a shirt.

Although I strongly prefer my new panel color over the original, I still recall the original panel color EVERY time I approach my car... sort of a soul 'ghost' color.

The human mind is an odd place to be.

oooh, very deep.

The service manager made a point of telling me that the panels are stamped with the car's VIN. So now my car carries the VIN of another. Almost like a personality transplant.

I suppose if you order a fresh set, no VIN is stamped, kinda like soulless smarts.

Speaking of souls, the last silver drive I took yesterday morning, I ended up at this big cemetery over looking the valley.

"Swatching" -- very clever and appropriate. If the smart becomes popular enough, this word might eventually make it into the urban dictionary!

Funny thing is, for 5 months I've been coming home at the same time every day with the silver smart. There's always a bunch of children playing in the street. With the silver, they barely gave a nod.

Today they were all over my new "orange" car. They couldn't quit asking questions, circling it and smiling.

me too.
I was at a friend's house the other day and his 17 year old son said he had seen a coouple of the "burnt orange ones in town"(Oh No! I've started another orange red tangent) I like the silver and the red I have white and black panels. Come to think about it I like them all.

So....you've discovered the addition. LOL

Here's my story:

5.28.08 - Took delivery of my Deep Black fortwo Passion Coupe...

6.01.08 - Swapped with fellow member bottlerocket for his Metallic Red (looks Orange ;))...

6.22.08 - Traded member 24kinmotion's extra set of Metallic Blue.

I have also installed a set of Black powder coated (with a blue stripe circling it's perimeter) stock wheels. I plan on taking pictures this week, so stay tuned.

...and the thread: Caught her NAKED!!!! *PICS*

For those who've swapped panels, how do you like it? Would you do it again?

Even tho its only been a couple of hours, I couldn't be happier! It's almost like getting a brand new car!

You folks need to start a Swatchers Anonymous support group. The first step to recovery is not denial but finding another smart owner with different color panels.

I won't be switching anytime soon, unless someone wanted to swap some White panels and either all white or all black powder-coated wheels. LOL

BTW, no I did not end up driving the smart up to Laguna. I drove my loaner 2009 Focus since the smart is still in for the "Development Work".

Yes, I guess I am addicted!

Even tho it's been months since my first swatching, the itch is still strong. Zippy is now preparing for additional plastic surgery.

This time the very rare metallic red panels will go into storage....

Come on, SCP-Parts, Where's Zippy's new outfit?!
