My Smart Car on the Race Track!!

This was so fun I just had to share!

My daughter races a Short Track Truck and when I pulled into the track in the l'il bug, The series promoter went crazy and asked if he could use it as the Pace Car for the races!




I love the 2nd picture, it looks like it's actually racing and pulling away from the field of trucks!

Luckily, my daughter got the pole for the race, so I didn't have to worry about anyone hitting my l'il bug. Thats her truck with the pink window net.

The crowd LOVED it! Got lots of questions afterwards and many people interested in getting one for themselves.

That's actually very cool. We know how fast the Smart is but how fast were those trucks going? How fast did you get the 'bug' to go before you got out of the way?

Since I am not experienced as a Pace Car driver, I opted to let someone else drive it for the occasion. I'm guessing it was running about 60mph when they pulled it off. Its more for show than anything at the local tracks. In fact its unusual to even have a pace car at the local venues around here.

And thank you to Janet..yes, my most precious baby races. She is the only girl in her series and the youngest driver to boot..she is only 15 and can't even drive alone on the road legally. She started stock car racing when she was 14 but has been racing since she was 10 in youth series. She had to 'try-out' to be accepted into the series because of her age..youngest ever in the series.

To OrangeandBlack..nope...she did not win, but finished respectably. Her Crew Chief missed on the gear ratios for the truck. Happens. She finished 8th in the race. She did lead 11 laps of 75, so that was cool. In truth we really dont have the cash to put her up front. Part of the sport is driver, part how much you can spend. We got the driver, just not the cash. But she has fun and I KNOW where my teenager is on saturday nights.
