My smart is a dust magnet!!!

I guess that the plastic panels are picking up a static charge from the airflow, like an airplane, and seem to attract black tire dust. It looks horrible against the yellow panels and even worse if I actually open the tailgate and smear the dust around. This happens after only a day or so with a clean car.

Anyone else notice this? I feel like this happens quicker on this car than any other I have owned. Any suggestions, anti-static spray maybe? I don't want to harm the panels by using the wrong stuff.

There is a post elsewhere on this topic... try a 'search' and good luck. My smart attracts people but not dust!

Mine does too and even posted the problem here awhile back but didn't get much help. Apparently not everyone has this problem. It might have something to do with the super dry climate here. It doesn't show up so much on my blue/silver smart so I've just been dealing with it. Maybe a smart dealer will know something. If I find something out, I will surely post it.

I also have black/black, and have been afraid to wash off the Mississippi Yazoo Clay dust that got onto it... do I go through an automated car wash or get it hand washed? I'm curious what happens when the engine manifold, exposed in the back, gets washed when it's up to temperature. Steam, I can imagine.

I have the black/Yellow combo and I get tons of bugs on the front. Since the front looks like a smiley face I call it my 5 o'clock shadow

I dust my white smart daily with a "California Car Duster". Even Walmart carries them in the automotive section.

My black tridion cell always seems to be dusty. I don't notice it so much on the red panels. I may have to pick up one of those dusters. Anyone know where else they may carry them other than WalMart?

Great idea! I hadn't thought of that. I actually used to have one of those years ago and it worked great on the interior too. I like this idea better than spraying something on the plastics.
Thanks
