My smart keeps killing my iPod

Does anyone else have problems with the ACC socket? Mine does not supply a constant source of power, it starts off feeding 12v, but soon it just dies. I have to pull it out, wiggle it around and even then 1/2 the time I can't get it to work. I have tried two different brands of power sockets and the same thing happens, it also happens with my Garmin power tap as well as the one for my phone. Is this unique to my car or have others had this problem?

Mine works fine, so long as the key is On. But, it does irritate me that power is cut when the key is not in the On position. I understand this is not your complaint. I don't seem to be having your problem.

No problems with my 12v outlet. My ipod and GPS unit both do just fine.

I have an iGo with a splitter so I can charge my iPhone and power the Garmin GPS at the same time. I haven't had any problems with sufficient power, but I share the frustration of everything shutting off when the power is off.

My iPod and Garmin GPS work fine in the factory outlet. I also installed an unswitched one in the glove compartment and both units work fine there too.

I very much like the fact that it is switched. I keep my GPS in the smart 100% of the time... it's nice to have it come on and off (after a 30 sec delay on the GPS) with the ignition.

Just my .02 on the original question; I think it may be more related to the device's plug than the car's 12v outlet. I've had problems with one plug that just doesn't like the 12v outlet but works fine with the outlets on a Radio Shack "Y" cord.
