So you're saying the socket itself provides current intermittently? Or are you saying the devices' plugs that you insert into the ACC socket don't fit snugly in the socket and therefore don't get a constant flow of current?

It's my understanding that there are at least two basic sizes for the cigarette lighter socket's inside diameter: 21 mm (used in American cars), and ~22 mm (used in many European cars). See Cigar lighter receptacle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Note: I normally don't cite to wiki, but in this case its information seems to reflect other sources. E.g., see this Miata service bulletin http://www.miata.net/garage/tsb/sb00-09-007-815R1.pdf

So if it's a matter of your plugs not fitting the socket snugly, you should probably get an adapter, which are available in Walmart, Target, etc., or your local auto shop. Or you may get away with putting an O-ring on each problematic plug that's just big enough to wrap around the plug to make the fit snug.

I have Power Jolt SE, for my iphone. Charging is really slow after 30 minutes of driving, if any. Don't know if its the 12 volt outlet or the charger. I think the battery in the iphone is bigger then the Smart cars. The 12 volt acc outlet ???????? Maybe the phone is changing the car!!!!!!!!!

I think that was what the problem was. I went down and bought a new plug and it fights very tightly, now it seems to have a glowing power light whenever the car is on. Now that I see your post, I recall that my DLO ipod holder that I use in my Benz has an adapter and that it works all the time. Dopey Me!!!

There is a problem with the iPhone 3G and most 12 volt to USB/Dock charging adapters. There is a solution from BoxWave which allows full charging for the iPhone 3G with any adapters. This iPhone charging adapter charges my iPgone 3G twice as fast as my older iPod car charger.
