My wife says its my Smart Car because I will be the primary driver during my commute Mon-Fri. I say its our smart car because I do not want to make her feel everything is mine. OK she is a stay at home mom so my paycheck pays for everything. I told her that she can drive the smart car weekends, Holidays or if for some reason I didn't take it to work. So this is where the I, We and ours smart car becomes a grey area. My wife drives the Family Mini Van mostly and I do have a Gas Hog Ford 250 V10 4x4 to pull our RV Trailer. My current commute vehicle is a Ford Ranger.

So If she says its "Your smart car" than I should get the gauges, color, and options I want and not even worry about it.

When she comes back and complains I will say "the smart car is mine because you said so"

Wives and their mind games.

I couldn't live life without my wife and I'm very happy with her.
If it was just color or fabric choice, I would definitely listen and defer to her (we just passed 30 years) preferences, particularly if they were strong. But in this case, its functional. To me the tach is important information. I would tend to go with the hat suggestion; that way she could cover it when she was driving.

Waa Hoo my wife agreed to the on top Dash Gauges last night.

She was in a good mood and the Smart Car Screen Saver came up on the computer and showed the Dash Board Gauges. I kindly explained to her that the Tach was important but the other one is just a clock.

She was puzzled wondering why I couln't get the tach in the DASH instead on top.

Well anyway I got the green light to config with On Top Dash Guages.

Life is good.

I'm still a little sad the orphan I adopted didn't have em. I'll probably chump in for some at the inflated price and install them myself. Is the insane 280 price with or without installation?

But, to your question... Get em and take em off. Sell them to me for 150 and make forty bucks!

Everybody wins.

YAY!

...no on the gauges...you already got a clock and I figure you have a watch too.
...for the rpm's might as well save the $$$ it will cost to finance a tach and get a Scangauge that does more than rpm's...my 2c...

gauges

I don't like them and didn't order them in my new smart. That is where I like to put my GPS. I drive in manual and don't need a tach. I have had a tach on every car and motorcycle I have owned and have never looked at them. Sooo, didn't want one on this car because it looks cluttered to me. I use my GPS and would much rather have it there in that spot. I am a women so maybe it is a girl thing.
