OK she is a stay at home mom so my paycheck pays for everything. I told her that she can drive the smart car weekends, Holidays or if for some reason I didn't take it to work. So this is where the I, We and ours smart car becomes a grey area. My wife drives the Family Mini Van mostly and I do have a Gas Hog Ford 250 V10 4x4 to pull our RV Trailer. My current commute vehicle is a Ford Ranger.
So If she says its "Your smart car" than I should get the gauges, color, and options I want and not even worry about it.
When she comes back and complains I will say "the smart car is mine because you said so"
Wives and their mind games.
I couldn't live life without my wife and I'm very happy with her.

If it was just color or fabric choice, I would definitely listen and defer to her (we just passed 30 years) preferences, particularly if they were strong. But in this case, its functional. To me the tach is important information. I would tend to go with the hat suggestion; that way she could cover it when she was driving.
