name brand ethanol vs no name non ethanol

Ok this has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

All of my "brand" name gas station; Shell, Cheveron, and Texaco; have switched to ethanol blends of gasoline. There is one station called Holly Mart that advertises "NO ETHANOL" in their gas. Though I haven't checked the Entec.

So the question remains... which would be better for Betty?

I always use the ethanol free gas, but I'm not in no name territory

I'm all for ethenol free gas, it may just be my imagination, but I think I get better gas mileage with ethenol free gas.

It is getting harder and harder to fnd though..

Exactly, I've noticed my mpg's going down ever since I've been "forced" to use the ethanol addative. Though it may just be hubby's been driving Betty a bit more.

I thought I was doing ok, since I had 3 gas stations that I frequent and none were using ethanol. Then about 2 weeks ago BAM, all now have those little stickers up saying the gas has ethanol in it. I may try the "generic" stuff for a bit to see how it does.

Where do you find no-ethanol gas? Can't seem to get it in rural FL. Ethanol belongs at the bar and not in the gasoline. Besides, I've always been told that "alcohol and gasoline don't mix!"

Used to be the Citi station here in Inverness on 41/44 carried non-ethanol in the high-test. For some reason it went away late last year. Now I used BP but it's got ethanol, too.
I agree, too - ethanol is for mixing with OJ or something . . .

Well I'm finding that the smaller non-national chain and even some mom & pop type gas stations still carry no-ethanol gas. At least for now.

In Oregon 10% ethanol is the law. That's nice, we're not forced into making a choice for ourselves.

I suspect most states will make 10% the standard soon.

Ironically, the Shell station by my house has non-ethanol. The Shell station by the freeway (about 5 miles away), has ethanol stickers on all the pumps. Two different drops for same brand stations so close ?

I asked the station by me, he said they requested ethanol free because of all the trucks coming through, they demanded ethanol free.

Now, if it's actually true, I have no idea, it's not like I can run an ethanol test....

But I've filled up at both stations and I did notice a MPG change, so maybe it's true or the beginning of another urban myth.....
