My parents' insurance firm has never even heard of smart before, I guess I'll be their first!
The current family vehicles are listed like this:

03' GMC Env XL
98' NISS XE PKP

So the smart might look like:

09' SMAR 42 PSN

Oh why must people abbreviate EVERYTHING?

NJ Motor Vehicle Commission shows my car as Smart Pure and not Smart Fortwo.

My Insuance Co. has it listed: MAKE: smart MODEL: smartfortwo
But the DMV has it as MAKE: smart MODEL: pure\passion coupe So thats half right, but I'll tell ya they got it all right when they charged me tax on my 2008 passion Cha-CHING

WI DMV has it as "SMRT"
USAA has "2008 SMART FORTWO PURE/FORTWO PASSION "

Since it's all Caps you cant blame them for not making it smart

Odd, that. When I bought my Cabrio, I phoned in the VIN to my insurer to have them add the car to my auto policy and fax a binder to the dealership... The VIN read on their system as a Pure, even though since it's a Cabrio it's (obviously) a Passion - the MEEK in the VIN designates it as such. I had to call up the insurance company's head office to straighten that mess out.

Heh... A tiny little car with "MEEK" in the VIN. I find that somewhat chuckle-worthy.
