Nationality of Smart

I am wondering what nationality do we consider out smart. Since Daimler is a German Company but our car is actually make it Smartville, France. With a Mitsu engine from Japan..... And at first it started with Swatch which that's Swiss company....

So what will you consider our smart as German, Franch or Jap??

What nationality is a BMW X3, Z4, X5 built in the US
or the MBs built here or Toyota etc.?

By the same token what nationality is a car wearing a blue oval built in Germany?

The cars themselves are W-vin even though they're built in France, so who knows?

They are not such much made in France as they are assembled in France by a German owned company with a workforce (smartville) which is half French and half German.

The car's heritage oddly enough is American. Before Hayek (swatch) got involved Mercedes has the city car concept that was fleshed out in Irvine, California!

My Toyota Camry isn't Japanese, it was made in Georgetown, Ky. Toyota also makes some Camry models in Lafayette, Ind., at a Subaru plant. What would you call them?

Stick a Diamler sticker in the windshield (available at any M-B dealer for about $4). That should confuse them!

The "official" looking country badges look like this...

Due to the VIN being a W, I'd be tempted to call it German.

It's got dual citizenship, really... it's a German VIN/German manufacturer, but "born" in France.
