Need help with found item (found under car)

I need help with identifying two small clips that I found under my smart in the garage. They are metal, 1 3/16" long, 1/4" wide, 5/32" high. There is a point on each end directed inwards. There is a slot down the center with curved edges as if to grip something. On the edges of the slot are remains of Blue paint,my smart is Blue. One was found last winter/spring, the second was found a week ago. Nothing appears to be lose and after looking under the car I have not found a thing where these clips would go. Any ideas would be appreciated.

They can't be off the smart. If they were they would be metric

They are body panel clips.
Their purpose is to hold two panels together.
If you recently did any work that involved moving/flexing one (or more) of the panels, that is where they are from? (I found two of them under my smart after I removed and cut my rear valence for my trailer hitch)

Should be a fairly obious (in the right light) as to exactly where they popped off, and they should just clip right back on?

Sounds to me like the clips that hold the plastic heat shield to the inside of the rear panel (bumper cover).

I'd agree. That's exactly what it sounds like.
