If you want vehicle-specific information, you're in the wrong page. Instead of that page, you'll need to do a query on the query page:
FARS Encyclopedia: Query - Step 1: Choose a Year
Select 2008 in the "Select a Query Year" pull down menu and click "Submit." This will then take to the Variables page.
http://www-fars.nhtsa.dot.gov/QueryT...ectFields.aspx
Click "Vehicle Make" in the "Vehicles" column so that there's a green check that replaces the red "x" (no need to select Vehicle Model as smart only makes one model in the U.S. so far). Click "Submit" again.
You will now be in Step 3 of the query ("Choose Condition Criteria (2008)").

Make sure "All" is highlighted in the "State" field (so you're searching for all smart accidents in the entire U.S.). In the lower field, "Vehicle Make," scroll down until you see "(65) Smart" and click that so it's highlighted.
Now you can click any of the buttons on the bottom
except for "Clear Form". Try "Univariate Tabulation." Clicking that will take you to the query results, which shows no reported fatal accidents involving the smart in 2008 in any of the states.

This may mean that there were literally no fatal accidents in 2008 involving a smart, or that the FARS database for 2008 (the most recent year they have data for) has yet to be updated.
FWIW.
