Hey everyone, I picked up my new smart car on Sep 2, 2008 with 17 miles on it already, I reserved it on August 31, 2007. I got it and took it on vacation. Today is August 15, and I already have 2300 miles on it. I'm about 165 miles from the dealer and I have had to make one extra trip to the dealer. I ordered the cargo nets with the car, and they mailed them to me because they weren't in. But, since they've never put in the cargo nets, they didn't know they have to put them in. The cargo nets hooks needed to be installed into the current plastic and can't be just popped on. They had to cut the plastic and install the metal hooks. They dealer did let me borrow a car to take to the Columbus, OH zoo so the day wasn't a total wash. Also note if you have the devider net installed you lose about 3 to 4 inches of viewing space out the top back window, which is small to begin with, see the pics below. This might aggrivate you alot.
I had to remove the net that is installed on the back deck. They look cool, but they drilled two holes and installed two screws that hold the net to the deck, but with the net installed you then couldn't open the Engine compartment. I just found this out today when I wanted to show off the little engine. How stupid is it to install the nets that didn't allow you in to your engine? I'm glad I figured it out before I had car trouble or oil change. I'm calling the dealer tomorrow to figure out if they installed it correctly. Now, I have to holes in the carpet and the engine area. I'm sorta worried about car exhost getting into the cabin area now that there are two holes. I don't see how else they would've installed it, so if anyone else has had these installed, explain how they did it.
I installed the Smart Sticker accross the windshield, but I think I am going to remove it. It holds water in the material and makes it hard to see when it is raining. Also the windshied wipers rub against it when it rains so I don't think it will hold up to the wear and tear not to mention the wear and tear on the wipers.
Does anyone else have a problem when it rains when the windshield wipers are going at full speed? My wipers slap the right side of the car, past the windshield when it is raining.
I also had a Pioneer 900BT radio put in. Does anyone else find it agrivating that you can't cancel or add a route unless you put the parking brake on? I hate when I have to pull over, set the parking brake, cancel the route, just to get the GPS to shut up. Did you figure out how to by pase the parking brake?
Also Check out my pictures below. I really like the double CD holder look.
